Description
Delighted to capture this picture of a roseate spoonbill wading in a shallow, freshwater river. As I watched, I noticed he/she had been foraging for food. Interestingly, they get their pink color from the foods they eat... crustaceans and other aquatic invertebrates contain pigments called carotenoids that help turn their feathers pink.
