Spotted this great white egret fishing along the shoreline of the pond at the Venice Rookery, Venice, Florida. One interesting fact about this species is they will migrate south during the winter if they live in colder climates but if they live in SW Florida, they are usually fulltime residents. Some of them nest and breed here at the rookery. A month ago, we welcomed two new beautiful chicks into the world. It is so delightful to see them up close going about their daily activities. I used and arctic filter on this image because I liked the way it looked. The egret is lovely just as he/she is, but I was aiming for an artistic look.
